Counselor Dr-Jo
Britney Holder
As a dedicated Professional School Counselor, I am passionate about empowering students to recognize their potential, embrace their individuality, and become the very best versions of themselves. I am a proud graduate of Tennessee State University, where I earned my Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology, followed by a Master of Science degree in Counseling Psychology and a Post-Master’s degree in Licensed Professional School Counseling. I am currently continuing my educational journey as I work toward completing my Ph.D. in Developmental Psychology, specializing in Children and Adolescents.
I am entering my 10th year as a Professional School Counselor, and throughout my career, I have remained committed to supporting the whole child. I believe that students are more successful when they feel seen, heard, valued, and supported. My counseling philosophy centers on creating an inclusive and supportive environment where students can grow academically, socially, and emotionally. Whether helping students navigate academic goals, personal challenges, relationships, future planning, or life beyond high school, I strive to provide guidance that allows each student to show up as their best self.
Outside of my work as a school counselor, I proudly coach collegiate cheerleading at Tennessee State University and serve as a national and international cheer and dance judge and consultant. These experiences allow me to continue mentoring young people, developing leaders, and contributing to the growth of athletes and programs both nationally and internationally.
In my personal time, I enjoy traveling, cooking, working out, volunteering through my sorority, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, and spending quality time with family and friends. I value opportunities to serve others, experience new cultures, continue learning, and create meaningful memories with the people who matter most.
At the heart of everything I do is a genuine passion for people, purpose, and possibility. I believe every student has a unique story, incredible potential, and a future worth investing in. My goal is to continue creating spaces where young people feel empowered to dream boldly, overcome obstacles, and understand that their circumstances do not define their possibilities. When we invest in the whole child, we help shape not only successful students, but confident, compassionate, and purpose-driven individuals who are prepared to make a meaningful impact in the world.
