About LEISD College Readiness
The role of the College Readiness Coordinator is to assist the young men and women at Little Elm High School in selecting an institution of higher education that matches their academic strengths and allows them to explore opportunities of interest outside the classroom. The students will be encouraged to assume responsibility for the college admission process by exploring their aspirations and academic interests, setting goals, and making the best use of the resources available to them to make sound decisions. All students are advised to meet with Mrs. Brown early and often.
Meet Mrs. Brown
Mrs. Keisha Brown is a native Texan born and raised in Tyler. She graduated High School from John Tyler High School and went on to receive her Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism from Texas Tech University in Lubbock. After receiving her degree, Mrs. Brown worked as a news reporter for CBS in Lubbock covering the education beat which is where her passion for education began.
After a few years reporting the news, Mrs. Brown felt the need to explore her new passion that had grown for the field of education. She decided to get a Masters Degree in Higher Education Administration and go back to her Alma Mater, Texas Tech, as the Director of the Dallas Fort Worth Regional Admissions Center. Mrs. Brown was responsible for all academic student recruitment for Texas Tech in the DFW Metroplex.
After spending nine years in the Office of Admissions at Texas Tech, Mrs. Brown was offered an opportunity to help transform the college admissions process at Bishop Dunne Catholic School in Dallas. Under Mrs. Brown’s guidance, the graduates at Bishop Dunne earned millions of dollars in scholarships and were accepted to many prestigious colleges and universities each year.
Mrs. Brown is proud to serve as the Coordinator of College Readiness for Little Elm ISD. In her time in the district she has implemented numerous college readiness programs, helped to foster a "college going" culture and made a great impact on the number of students applying and being accepted to two and four-year colleges and receiving scholarships. Mrs. Brown is eager to continue the progress made in College Readiness at Little Elm, and assist LEHS students in the college admissions process. Her goal is to help all students realize their true potential and achieve the goals they have set for themselves.
When she is not working and promoting the importance of higher education, Mrs. Brown is a dedicated wife and mother. She is married to her high school sweetheart, Kendrick Brown, and is the mother of two wonderful daughters Karmen and Kimberly. Mrs. Brown is a proud supporter of Little Elm ISD where her youngest daughter still attends school. She is an active member of the Texas Association of College Admission Counseling and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.
